02 / Why

The problem

When someone gets hurt at work, the injury is just the start. The line stops. OSHA shows up. The union gets involved. The insurer and workers' comp start assigning blame. Premiums go up. Lawyers get hired.

In every one of those fights, the same question comes up: can you prove your safety rules were enforced that day? Almost nobody can. The moment a worker walks through the door is checked by eye and written down nowhere.

Work injuries cost U.S. employers $181 billion in 2024. A big share of the fights afterward come down to that missing record.

03 / What

What we built

WorkCheck is a small box at the door. It checks each worker's PPE and uniform in about a second and says CLEAR, WAIT, or STOP. Then it logs what it saw in a record that cannot be quietly edited later.

There is also a free iPhone app that does the same check from a supervisor's pocket. It is on TestFlight now.

We do not claim to stop accidents. We give the company proof that it enforced its rules, every shift, before anyone asks.

04 / How

How it works

Everything runs on the device. Take a few photos of the correct gear and the unit builds a reference. From then on it compares each person against that reference, locally, with no internet needed.

It keeps 160 numbers per reference and about 60 bytes per check. It never stores a picture of a person. The same math runs on the box, on the phone, and in our cloud, and we have tested that all three give identical answers.

The box uses depth as well as color, so a printed photo held up to the lens does not count as a person. Hardware is $1,499 per unit. Software is $99 per gate per month.

This is everything WorkCheck keeps from one reference photo. It is a color histogram. You cannot turn it back into a picture.
